BAINBRIDGE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH WELCOMES NEW PASTOR
After 18 years of serving Bainbridge First Baptist Church, Pastor Dan Wymer retires, and Pastor Jon Johnson becomes new pastor.
Dan Wymer, retiring Pastor, has been in the pastorate full time for 45 years with his wife Judy, during that time serving in three churches including starting a Baptist church in Port Orchard in the mid-70’s and followed by serving a Baptist church in Chewelah WA, before being called by the members of Bainbridge First Baptist Church when his father, Pastor Ken Wymer retired.
Pastor Jon Johnson and his wife, Tami, will begin their ministry at Bainbridge First Baptist Church on January 1st. Jon and Tami were both raised in Kitsap county and Jon graduated from Olympic High School in Bremerton. In February of 2020, Pastor Jon and Tami returned to Poulsbo to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He and his wife have been married for 35 years.
Pastor Johnson states, “ I covet the opportunity to join a loving, biblically sound, local body where there is a deep desire to love God, each other, and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We desire to faithfully and lovingly serve as the next pastor.”
In addition to spending 26 years in Law Enforcement, Pastor Jon has pastored for 12 years. He lives for shepherding God’s people and building their relationship with the Lord. He has participated in short-term mission trips to Sierra Leone, Africa; Canada, and Mexico. They are also involved in the nonprofit ministry “Caring for the Heart, Washington,” a faith-based ministry that provides Biblical counseling to individuals and couples struggling and desiring to come to freedom and healing in Christ.
Again quoting Pastor Johnson, “One of my passions is spending time shepherding God’s people and building meaningful relationships. I am committed to my own personal spiritual growth that comes out of abiding with Christ, being grounded in the Word, and relying on His power to live out my daily walk.”
Join us beginning on January 3rd to meet and welcome our new Pastor.
Masks and social distancing are required for all services.
